North West Classic & Folk
Ensemble Barock Nord West, directed by Marianne Leemann, is a group of musicians dedicated to the largely-unknown Renaissance and Baroque music of northern and north-western Europe. Their repertoire consists mainly of songs and dances from Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and the Netherlands, from the 16th to 19th centuries. As of January 2023, the ensemble has also called itself simply ‘Ensemble Nord West’ - www.ensemble-nordwest.ch. From time to time, they also cast a glance across the Atlantic.
Our first CD, CLASSIC MEETS FOLK, a result of our project with Swedish group ‘The Original Five’ (see trailer) was followed by a second, NORD WEST IMPRESSIONEN.
